I have been with the GFPS system since 2011. I am a lifelong Montana resident born and raised in the bustling metropolis of Ekalaka.
I found my way to Great Falls to attend the College of Great Falls, graduating in 1975 with a degree in History and Political Science with a math minor. I met and married a local girl and we decided that Great Falls was a great place to raise a family.
After two years of managing a furniture store, I went to work for the United States Postal Service. During my 34 years with the USPS, I was able to visit almost every post office in Montana (Yaak is still on my bucket list). As a test administrator for the postal service, I administered over 5000 exams.
Upon my retirement form the postal service I began working at the then Adult Education department as an examiner for the GED testing program. I have had the privilege of watching this program grow by leaps and bounds into the Great Falls Career and College Readiness Center. With amazing leadership and the most dedicated instructional and support staff I have ever experienced it has been a truly amazing experience.
The greatest part of my job is to share in the successes of our many and varied student population. From celebrating the successful completion of their HiSet testing to encouraging them if they suffer setbacks, the involvement with these amazing students is a great blessing.
My free time is spent on remodeling projects, helping my son restore a 1968 MGB, and attempting to master the game of golf.
When the pace of life becomes hurried, I recall a trip to Negril, Jamaica. As Americans tend to do, we were trucking down the beach on our way somewhere when a Jamaican gentleman stopped us and said, "Slow down Mon, you're in Jamaica now". The pace of life is a state of mind and sometimes we just need to "slow down mon".
